To apply for an EP, one must achieve a COMPASS score of 40 points and meet the minimum salary threshold, which gradually increases with age. We all know this, but did you know? Actually, this is all part of the SAT test.

What is SAT Test?

Self-Assessment Tool, SAT, abbreviated as SAT, is a self-test tool launched by MOM. If you want to know if the applicant meets the EP/SP requirements, you can use SAT testing before applying for or renewing the permit.

What is the Relationship Between SAT Testing and COMPASS?

EP applications submitted from September 1, 2023, have implemented an enhanced version of the SAT, which also includes COMPASS framework scoring assessment in the testing.

It should be noted that using the enhanced SAT requires an EP eService (formerly EP Online) account.

What Results are Usually Displayed After the SAT Test?

1) Not meeting the criteria: This means that if an application is submitted, there is a high probability that it will be rejected.

2) Eligible: The applicant has approximately a 90% chance of being approved.

Why is it 90% possible instead of 100%? Because SAT cannot fully guarantee the actual outcome of the application, some other factors such as quotas (for S Pass) and some historical records are not considered in this assessment. The actual COMPASS score for EP application may also differ from the score in SAT.

So there is a possibility of error.

Will MOM Store the Data I Provided for the Test?

MOM will not collect any data that can identify your identity. Additionally, it is precisely because the data and results provided by the tester will not be stored that a copy of the assessment (in PDF format) should be saved or printed before exiting the SAT.

Do I Need to Pay a Fee to Use SAT?

No need, using SAT assessment is free and can be used by both EA license holders and employers.
