Educational background serves as an important consideration in MOM’s EP assessment. Relevant academic credentials can strengthen an application. Nevertheless, EP approvals are not degree-only. The Ministry of Manpower carries out a holistic review of each applicant’s profile.
Key evaluation criteria include:
- Length and adequacy of working experience
- Relevance between past career track and the applied role
- Industry certifications, project portfolios or managerial experience
- Consistency among salary, job title and overall candidate background
In practice, applicants with limited formal education may still stand a chance of approval if they possess extensive, highly relevant professional experience and a strong overall profile. On the contrary, weak alignment between employment history and the proposed role, alongside poorly structured supporting documents, increases rejection risks even for candidates with solid academic qualifications.
