Employers: Renew Staff Passes On Time

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) of Singapore has released enforcement statistics for 2025 from its regular joint operations with relevant agencies.
Last year, 54 individuals were arrested for illegal entry, 484 for overstaying, and a total of 277 people were apprehended for harbouring or employing persons in breach of immigration laws.
Of particular concern are offending employers, who faced penalties for the following reasons:
Failure to renew or extend their employees’ passes;
Only verifying passes at the point of hire, without ongoing monitoring of expiry dates;
Failing to confirm whether employees hold valid stay privileges in Singapore.
Please note: It is an offence if employers hiring foreign workers neglect these obligations. Harbouring or employing persons who violate immigration laws constitutes a serious crime. Singapore authorities will continue enforcement action against offenders.
