Registering a company in Singapore to apply for permanent residency (PR) can be approached in two ways: first, by registering a company to apply for an Entrepreneur Pass (EntrePass); second, by registering a company to apply for a self-employed EP. Today, let's delve into the self-employed EP route and explore how long it takes to obtain PR.


01. Registering a Company

Registering a company in Singapore is straightforward. After determining the company's directors and shareholders and preparing the necessary documents, the company registration can be completed in 1-2 working days.


02. Operating the Company, Applying for Self-Employed EP

Prepare the required documents for EP application, including the applicant's educational qualifications, resume, passport, etc. The majority of applications are processed within 3 weeks.


03. Assisting Family Members with Long-Term Visit Pass Applications

Meeting certain conditions allows family members to apply for Dependant's Pass (DP) and Long Term Visit Pass (LTVP), enabling them to study and reside in Singapore. We will cover the eligibility criteria for family members' passes in a separate post.


04. Applying for PR with Family Members

After 12-24 months of operating the registered company, family members can apply for PR together.


05. Applying for Citizenship (Optional)

After holding PR for six months, one can apply for Singapore citizenship.


Important Notes

1.Unlike the EntrePass, which allows concurrent company registration and EP application, the self-employed EP requires company registration as the initial step.
2.The entire process, from applying for the pass to family PR applications, typically takes 1.5 to 2.5 years.
3.PR application processing times vary but usually take around 8 months, although it can be shorter or longer.
